Cowes Yachting

Cowes Yachting's objective is to maintain the international status of Cowes and to provide assistance, advice, support and encouragement to both established and fledgling organisations wishing to have an affordable presence in Cowes so that they can benefit from all the resources available.

Who and what is Cowes Yachting


A non-profit Company limited by guarantee

Run by a Board of Trustees aided by a part time Co-ordinator, Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Secretary

Funded by membership subscriptions, major sponsors from the business community with match funding from the Isle of Wight Council

Earns no income from the provision of its services

Has minimal overheads so available funds can be put to maximum local use

What does Cowes Yachting do


Instrumental in marketing and promoting Cowes as a centre of excellence to the world by implementation of a strategic Business Plan

Provides a contact point for enquiries, advice and information about events, suppliers and available facilities

Provides regular media briefings on Cowes events.

Is represented on various bodies, eg Cowes Week Sponsorship Ltd. and Cowes Town Waterfront Trust

Acts as a co-ordinating and liaising body for yacht clubs and event organisers, Cowes and Islandwide Agencies as appropriate

Offers financial support to help with the promotion of new events

Publishes a regular newsletter for its Members Cowes Yachting - Enables Members to have a say and play a part in local issues

Arranges a programme of speakers at Members' monthly lunches throughout the winter

Initiates the annual Cowes Conference, commencing 1999

Constantly alert to opportunities and ready to take tactical measures to protect and nurture Cowes and Island interest
