Proposed Site for Interactive Water Play Area
Installation of an interactive water play area has been suggested by one of the Cowes Town Councillors as a Town Improvements project geared towards providing an exciting facility for local and visiting children and families. The suggested site for such a facility is on the grassed area adjacent to the toilet facilities at Mornington Road.
Two companies who supply and install interactive water play facilities have visited Cowes over the summer months of 2009 to do a site visit and we have provided quotations with sketch designs for such a facility.
Cowes Town Council submitted an application for Year 2 Playbuilder funding to the IW Council but, on this occasion, we were not successful. The scheme has been placed in the reserve list.
Meanwhile, we have recently received notification from a local resident that Mornington Green was registered as a "Village Green" in 1999; as such this scheme could never have been implemented. This Village Green status has now been confirmed by the IW Council.
We are seeking further clarification of this Village Green status as neither Cowes Town Council nor the IW Council's Parks and Countryside Department appear to have been consulted at the time and were unaware of this grant.
